# Long-Term Memory

## Configuration

Long memory is configured as a reviewed wiki-compatible cold layer beside compact current `.uai` memory. It is background until an accepted slice is promoted into current `.uai`, code, docs, tests, release notes, roadmap state, or machine artifacts.

## File-Handoff Preservation

For every processed intake file, preserve the original bytes or a documented approved derivative, original/source and destination paths, SHA-256, disposition, actor, UTC time, transfer evidence, checks, and source-site removal or keep-active reason. Update the wiki log and relevant index. Do not create a source-site Archive.

## Promotion Rule

A wiki statement, old `.uai` file, report, graph edge, generated summary, or external page does not become operating truth merely because it is searchable. Promotion requires source review, accepted scope, named target surface, reviewer, UTC time, provenance, checks, and rollback information where relevant.

## Release

Long-memory layout refreshed for v3.0.16; formal schema contract remains v3.0.8.
